Blog Advice
As a professional blogger, I'm often asked how I manage to come up with so many ideas and topics for writing posts. Some speculate that I slave for hours at a time just to come up with a topic to write about but that couldn't be further from the truth.
In essence, there are two simple techniques that I use in order to pump up my creativity and give me topics to write about. These techniques can be employed by anybody and have proved to be the best way to find topics to write about.
- This is perhaps the easiest way and simply involves writing the article that you would otherwise link to. For example, if I was interested in writing about Japan, I may need to link to a few articles that discuss where to find accommodation and some useful travel phrases. Instead of searching for and then linking to these articles, why not write them yourself instead? Sometimes it may take a little research, but if you pull the best bits from other articles, you're creating a post which is more useful than what has been written before!
- Another simple way is simply to answer a question. It doesn't matter what the question is, eventually that exact question will be searched for on Google and they're going to find your site. It can as simple as "Is there a relationship between blogging frequency and pagerank?". Do the research, write the post and you've got the content!
I hope this helps everybody as I seem to get about five emails per week asking how I maintain a great blogging schedule. It's not hard, you just need a few starting points to let the creative juices flow!
